Canadian–Quebec Singer Giorgia Fumanti Performed at NHL All-Star Game
Québec singer Giorgia Fumanti was selected by the National Hockey League to sing the Canadian National Anthem at its All-Star Game in Dallas on January 24th. “It is a huge honour for me, and one that bears witness to my integration into this country that has so warmly embraced me. What makes me even happier is that my request to sing the anthem in its bilingual version has been granted”, said Giorgia Fumanti as she described her close ties to Québec, a place with which she fell in love and where she has been living for 3 years now. “I spoke neither English nor French when I first arrived here, but I have done my best to learn both languages. Singing the national anthem in English and French at an international event as important as the NHL All-Star Game allows me to express my gratitude. I may have been physically born in Italy but it is in Canada and particularly in Québec that I was born as a professional singer”, adds Fumanti in her charming English. The NHL All Star Game is an important event which was broadcast in about 100 countries. Giorgia Fumanti’s recent tour with famous tenor Jose Carreras across Taiwan, Hong Kong and Korea, confirms once again the resounding success of this singer with the unique, exceptional voice. This is certainly a positive sign for the worldwide launch of From My Heart, Giorgia’s new album released by EMI Music – Manhattan Records. Already out in Southeast Asia and South Africa where it hit number 1 on the charts, From My Heart will be on sale in Québec, Canada and the United States on March 6th. www.giorgiafumanti.com
