ANBERLIN’s THIRD ALBUM ‘CITIES’ In Stores Now & ANNOUNCE SPRING HEADLINING TOUR ACROSS CANADA
BAND WILL PERFORM FIRST SINGLE “GODSPEED” ON THE ‘LATE LATE SHOW WITH CRAIG FERGUSON’ MONDAY, MARCH 5
Available this week in stores and on-line, CITIES--the new album by ANBERLIN--marks the group’s third offering and follow-up to their breakthrough Tooth & Nail/EMI album Never Take Friendship Personal (2005). As a bonus to the album release “Haunting”, the B-side to the first single “Godspeed”, is now available at iTunes as an exclusive track.
ANBERLIN are amidst a U.S. headlining tour, before they head across Canada in April. The coast-to-coast trek will begin in the West and hit at least 8 cities before wrapping up in Ontario (see itinerary below). Keep checking anberlin.com for updates.
ANBERLIN are set to make their late-night television debut when they perform “Godspeed”--the first single off CITIES--on the “Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” Monday, March 5.
Having watched their career rise while touring with everyone from Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance to Yellowcard and Hawthorne Heights, the Winter Haven, Florida-reared quintet doesn’t just build on the energy and determination of recent singles like “Paperthin Hymn,” “Feelgood Drag,” and “A Day Late.” Instead, ANBERLIN expands its grasp of what a rock record can be with CITIES. With the sprawling, epic “Fin” and the gorgeous, lighter-ready “The Unwinding Cable Car,” the group vastly widens its musical boundaries.
For CITIES, ANBERLIN--STEPHEN CHRISTIAN (vocals), JOSEPH MILLIGAN (guitars), DEON REXROAT (bass), NATHAN STRAYER (guitar) and NATHAN YOUNG (drums)--reunited with producer Aaron Sprinkle (Eisley, MxPx, Pedro The Lion) and recorded the album at Sprinkle’s Seattle-based Compound facility, with drums captured at the infamous London Bridge studio (where classic albums by Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Temple of The Dog and Blind Melon were realized).
Whether it’s the huge-sounding, memorable roar of “Reclusion” or the bright, infectious “Adelaide,” the writing team of frontman STEPHEN CHRISTIAN and guitarist JOSEPH MILLIGAN drives ANBERLIN. “Anberlin has always had really good songs,” says STEPHEN of the group’s past output. “Still, I think this is the first time we’ve got a really great album.” MILLIGAN adds, “I’d like to think we have more in us and even broader spaces to cover in the future, but this is our proudest moment. I’d just like it to have it find its way into the hands of as many people as possible. Not for glory, but because we’re so proud of it.”
NEW YORK TIMES “…grand and rousing...” (2/19/07)
USA TODAY “…towering melodies.” (2/20/07)
BILLBOARD "Cities is a whirlwind tour through the world of driving rock act Anberlin, with producer Aaron Sprinkle again serving as the guide to the band’s adrenaline-fueled endeavors of the heart. The sheer force of first single ‘Godspeed’ destroys the notion that a pop song can’t kick some furious butt if it’s recorded right.“ (2/20/07) ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER “…quality craftsmanship. …make way for ‘Inevitable’: When you put softie hooks like that to a lyric like I want to be the last first kiss that you’ll ever have,’ you end up with inescapable, last-a-lifetime stuff.” (2/23/07)
