THE 5TH ANNUAL GLOBAL DIVAS BENEFIT FOR ST. STEPHEN’S COMMUNITY HOUSE

St. Stephen’s Community House is proud to announce the line-up for their 5th Annual Global Divas benefit concert, taking place on TUESDAY, JUNE 12, 2007 at Toronto’s historic Palais Royale Ballroom. This year’s gala and concert will once again be hosted by international acclaimed jazz virtuoso JANE BUNNETT and her band THE SPIRITS OF HAVANA, and will feature the following four ‘Global Divas’: Cuban rapera/jazz poet Telmary, the reigning Queen of Haitian Song Emeline Michel, South Asian musical master Suba Sankaran of autorickshaw and Rita Chiarelli, who will perform her passionate Italian folk songs. All proceeds from the 5th Annual Global Divas gala and concert will benefit Toronto’s St. Stephen’s Community House Youth Arcade.

St. Stephen's Community House is a vital, multi-service social service agency that has been responding to the needs of Kensington and surrounding neighbourhoods in downtown West Toronto since 1962. The house addresses the most pressing social issues in our community - poverty, hunger, and homelessness, childcare for low-income families, unemployment, conflict and violence, AIDS, racism, youth alienation and the integration of refugees and immigrants.
This year’s concert will be hosted by CBC Radio’s Garvia Bailey, host of Big City, Small World, and will be recorded by CBC Radio for future broadcast on Saturday, June 30th from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. ET on Canada Live, heard on CBC Radio Two 94.1.
