Eric Church to bring “country to the city” June 8th in Nashville

Chevrolet, Metro Parks & Recreation, Beautification & Environment Commission and Greenways for Nashville to assist Church and his “Tree Choir” with planting trees in Music City’s East Park during CMA Music Festival week

Capitol Records Nashville recording artist Eric Church will be adding something green AND country to Nashville on Friday morning, June 8th – Church has invited members of his fan club, the Church Choir, to help plant 25 trees in Music City’s East Park as part of a heart-felt, hands-on contribution to the growth and beautification of urban greenways and parks, bringing “country to the city.” After the trees are planted, Church will perform an acoustic set for those assembled.

This Nashville event forms the first chapter of the “Tree Choir,” which plans to continue its mission throughout the United States.

Chevrolet (who will deliver supplies to East Park, and provide the Silverado truck bed for the acoustic performance), Metro Parks & Recreation, Beautification & Environment Commission and Greenways for Nashville (who are providing shovels, gloves, additional supplies and guidance on the actual tree planting) are instrumental in making this activity a reality – an activity taking place just blocks across the Cumberland River from the 2007 CMA Music Festival.

When asked about the nature of the project, Church responded, "Well, I come from a small town out in the country and I am interested in bringing a little of that to every city in America - but I also wanted this to be something representative of our music. Those trees will be there long after we are and I believe our songs will be as well. It is also cool to know that every time the fans come to town, they can take their friends and loved ones by to show off our little choir forest," Church added with a smile.

Church’s debut album, Sinners Like Me originally debuted at #7 on the Billboard albums chart and features Top-20 hits "How Bout You," and "Two Pink Lines.” The current breakout, "Guys Like Me," is rapidly climbing the charts and radio is calling the song “his biggest one yet.” All three songs have accompanying hit videos (continued)

Church has been touring nonstop since the album’s release last year with such acts as Bob Seger, Rascal Flatts, Brad Paisley and Dierks Bentley. In addition to his popularity with fans, press acclaim has been astounding. The New York Times featured Church with "raucous southern rock…the songs are packed with wry observations and well-turned punch-lines." Rolling Stone said the debut is "the literary country album of the year," while People Magazine said Church has “a similar attitude to Merle Haggard.”
