DAFT PUNK ALIVE 2007 LIVE CONCERT CD SET FOR RELEASE IN CANADA ON NOVEMBER 20, 2007
“As the curtains lifted on Daft Punk’s eye-popping pyramid spaceship stage spectacle, it seemed that the roof had opened for two robotic extraterrestrials to land their ship and blast us humans with deadly rays of chest-pounding house-musique… A perfect interstellar coalescence of rock, disco and the rapture of thousands.” – Eye Weekly, Live Review, 2007
“The Parisian dance/electronica duo, making its first Toronto appearance in roughly a decade, made the large venue their audio and visual laboratory for around 80 minutes. As impressive as the music, was the band’s stage set up.” – The Toronto Sun, Live Review, 2007
Daft Punk get fans on their feet early – and the dancing never stopped!” – The Montreal Gazette, Live Review, 2007
“This is Daft Punk’s first North American tour in nine years and the electro legends are missed. If anything this past weekend’s show indicated that the masses are hungry for more.” – The National Post, Live Review, 2007 ***
The impressive and elaborate ‘ALIVE 2007’ set orchestrated by musical revolutionary duo, DAFT PUNK will be available as a single CD edition, plus a two-disc case bound book featuring the show's encore, “Harder Better Faster Stronger (Live)” video and about 50 pages of pictures taken during the run of recent shows.
The live version of “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” will also be issued as a single, along with a video, directed by Oliver Gondry that will feature footage shot by fans at the tour closer in Brooklyn on August 9.
"It is a montage of people shooting the song in the audience with 250 cameras," Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter says. "We were inspired by the Beastie Boys' 'Awesome, I F***in' Shot That!' and tried to do that in a four-minute video."
After the phenomenal press and public reaction to their live shows, Daft Punk have added on some extra dates to their current tour: The band will play in the U.S., on October 27 performing at Las Vegas' Vegoose Festival. The duo will then be heading to Japan and Australia in December.
After such a long hiatus from playing live, the group admits it was blown away by the response to the shows, "We pretty much felt it everywhere, which was fascinating," Bangalter says. "It was a big deal each time. It's a big deal for us each time, too, which is what keeps it fresh."
Hardest, Best, Fastest, Strongest Live Album Ever! (or at least since Alive 1997).
