"Spice Girls Greatest Hits" Available in Canada on November 13, 2007
Includes All the Classic Hits plus Two Brand New Songs
For the first time ever all the Spice Girls classic hits will be available together in one collection, out in Canada on November 13. Over the years there has been much speculation and rumour about this release, but now it's official. The much-anticipated greatest hits album Spice Girls Greatest Hits is being released by EMI Music.
From the summer of 1996 the charts were never quite to be the same again. The world's most famous girl group of all time shot straight to number one with their debut single "Wannabe." Instantly Emma, Geri, Mel B, Melanie C and Victoria became household names, sold millions of albums, traveled the world, made headline after headline and broke all the records.
The Spice Girls Greatest Hits charts the history of the band, starting with "Wannabe," which originally went to No. 1 in 31 countries, right up to the present day, with two brand new songs, the forthcoming single "Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)" and "Voodoo." The new single "Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)" will be the official 2007 Children In Need song in the UK. The collection also includes their three consecutive Christmas No. 1 singles (a record they share with The Beatles), "2 Become 1" (1996), "Too Much" (1997) and "Goodbye" (1998).
The release of Spice Girls Greatest Hits is sure to get Spice fever in full flow in anticipation of the World Tour, which kicks off right here in Canada - in Vancouver on Sunday, December 2. They will also hit Toronto on the tour as the city was chosen Spice City as voted for by legions of Spice Girls fans!
Tickets for the tour have proved to be the hottest ticket of the year, with the first London date selling out in an amazing 38 seconds! The demand to see this much anticipated show is so great that the girls have had to add an extra 16 London shows (all sold out!) to the original single show that was scheduled, in order to keep up with demand from the ever-loyal fans. The girls have also sold out all the North American dates on sale (including Vancouver).
With 55 million records sold the Spice Girls have very little to prove, except that proper pop is back. This is one Greatest Hits album that is long overdue.
As well as a standard CD and digital release, formats will also include a 2-disc version, which features a DVD with all the promo videos. There will also be a special limited box set, which includes exclusive Karaoke and remix CD’s, friendship bracelet, postcards and all the hits on both CD and DVD.
