Canadian singer Anne Murray gets kudos from magazine for her golf game
Anne Murray is a multiple Grammy Award winner and a member of the Order of Canada, but her latest honour isn't about her talent as a singer.
The songstress from Spring Hill, N.S., has been named the top female golfer in the entertainment industry in an upcoming issue of "Golf For Women" magazine.
The magazine estimates that Murray plays off a handicap of 11 - placing her one stroke ahead of actress Tea Leoni. Singer Celine Dion of Charlemagne, Que., is ranked third while Janet Jones-Gretzky - the wife of Wayne Gretzky - is listed as sixth.
Murray is a longtime golf enthusiast who once made a hole-in-one at Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, N.Y. The 62-year-old plays out of Northumberland Links in Pugwash, N.S., according to the magazine.
Other women appearing in the top-25 include Catherine Zeta-Jones, Ivanka Trump, Jessica Alba, Cameron Diaz, Kathy Ireland, Heather Locklear and Sharon Stone.
Next month's issue of "Golf For Women" magazine examines female golfers in the entertainment industry.
