SWEET THING HITS THE ROAD THIS WEEK ON THE DRAGONETTE TOUR

"So there's this band who call themselves 'Sweet Thing.' Seriously!
With a name like that, they'll never be cool..."

Sweet Thing is a five piece band from Toronto that play a unique and infectious brand of pop music all their own. Formed in 2004, by lead singer Owen Carrier and Alex Last (guitar, backing vocals), the band all in their twenties, also includes Nick Rose (guitar, vocals), Morgan Waters (bass, backing vocals) and Tyler Kyte (drums).

The guys in Sweet Thing may think they will never be cool, but their already solid and devoted fanbase would happily disagree. With just their self-titled EP and some shows here and there, this band have been building up their own impressive army of fans. After recently wooing the sold-out Toronto crowd opening for british band The Kooks, there is no doubt there is more of this to come as the band hit the road this week on the Dragonette Tour. Sweet Thing are currently also working on their first full length album after signing to EMI Music Canada.

"From the moment I saw the band perform I knew they were really special. Combining catchy songs that make you want to sing out loud and an energetic live show that gets you dancing - Sweet Thing are the real deal. We are looking forward to working with these guys and helping bring their sound to the world," says Jennifer Hirst of EMI Music Canada's A&R department.

"It's a pleasure working with a label who is excited and committed to the development of a new artist. We look forward to a fruitful partnership with EMI bringing Sweet Thing sounds to new and old fans worldwide," comments Pierre Tremblay - Sweet Thing manager - Nettwerk Management.

CBC Radio 3 raves, "Charged with dueling guitars, foot stomping grooves, soulful harmony singing and a healthy dose of hand claps, they want to make you dance. Influences range from classic rock (The Beatles, CCR, The Band) to Motown/Soul (Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson) to indie power pop (Sloan, Ted Leo). This is music for the easily bored and the young at heart. The kids have got moxy!"
