The Ranking Family Returns To The Stage!
The Rankin Family will return to the concert stage in 2009, following the overwhelming success of their 2007 Reunion Tour. The February tour will once again cross the country, featuring their classic hits along with new material from their forthcoming CD These Are The Moments.
No one could be more surprised about the turn of events than the Rankin Family themselves. The Reunion Tour was intended to be a one-time event. Raylene, Jimmy, Cookie and Heather had not performed together since 1999 and the loss of their brother John Morris in 2000 pretty much sealed their fate – or so they thought.
The Reunion Tour rekindled the magic from their earlier years and with the maturity that can only come with time, the music now held a richer and deeper meaning. Night after night audiences welcomed the family back into the fold. The time that had passed only served to strengthen their foundation, renew their spirit and sweeten their sound.
CTV then added to their confidence by offering them a Reunion special (broadcasting December 12th at 8pm and December 21st at 8pm) Shortly thereafter the family took a leap of faith and returned to the studio with the goal of producing an album of music that would inspire. Little did they know then, how much the world would need a message of hope.
Anchored by “Rise Again” and “Fare Thee Well Love”, both perennial concert favourites, These Are the Moments is a brilliant collection of songs, some new, some time honoured, that could not have found a more perfect time to be embraced. Selections from the CD will be introduced on the tour along with their hits. The first single to be released in the new year at AC radio will be “Breathe (Dream Pray Love)” while “Never Alone” will head to Country radio. The CD will be released by Longview Music and EMI Music Canada February 3rd, to coincide with the start of the tour. It’s a fresh sound and a new beginning.
